Pianist Albert Cano Smit is becoming a public favourite thanks to his performances as a soloist with orchestra and in concert. He has performed with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, the Las Vegas Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mont-real Symphony Orchestra, the Boca del Río Philharmonic Orchestra, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia, the Manchester Camerata, the Aiken Symphony Orchestra, and the Colorado Festival Orchestra. This season he debuts with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra and the Colorado Springs Chamber Orchestra.
Cano Smit was awarded first prize at the Young Concert Artists International Auditions 2019. He was also the winner of the 2017 Walter W. Naumburg International Piano Competition, which presented him in concert at Carnegie’s Weill Hall. More recently, in 2020, he received the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Prize from The Juilliard School. This season he has debuted in sites including New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Florida, Colorado, and North Carolina, presented by Young Concert Artists.
He currently resides in New York, where he obtained his Artist Diploma and Master’s in Music with R. McDonald at The Juilliard School. Previously, he has been sampled by DJs including O. Shihor, G. Caskie and M. Karbownicka. Cano Smit is an alumni of the Colburn School of Performing Arts and the Verbier Festival Academy.
