Albert Guinovart is one of the most complete and versatile musicians today. His professional activity is divided between his dedication as a repertoire pianist, composer and teacher.
Trained in Barcelona, he went to London to study with Maria Curcio. He has played all over Europe, South America, the United States, Canada, Japan, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, in recitals and with different orchestras directed by Ch. Hogwood, F. P. Decker, V. Petrenko, D. Cohen, L. Foster, E. Colomer, J. Pons, S. Mas or J. Ross, among others. He has collaborated with artists such as Victoria de los Ángeles, Barbara Hendricks, Frederica von Stade, Julia Migenes, Juan Diego Flórez and Nacho Duato.
He is known for his award-winning musicals: Mar i Cel, Flor de Nit, Gaudí, Paradís, La Vampira del Raval and Scaramouche.
He composed the operas, Atzar and Alba Eterna, the ballet Terra Baixa. As a resident artist at the Palau de la Música, in 2018 he premiered his own Requiem, which he adds to his catalogue together with works like Te Deum, Missa Brevis or Gloria. His forays into television and cinema are well known.
He is a professor at ESMUC and an academician at the Reial Academia de Belles Arts Sant Jordi. He has three Butaca Awards, two Max Awards and the Ciutat de Barcelona Award. He is a Steinway Artist.
He has more than 30 recordings with labels such as Harmonia Mundi, EMI and Decca. His records for SONY have been a critical and public success. They include the first two Piano Concertos, recorded in St. Petersburg under the conduction of Vassily Petrenko, the Nocturno with works by Guinovart himself for solo piano, the symphonic work The Lament of the Earth, which also includes the third piano concerto, recorded by the OBC conducted by Diego Martín, and the opera Alba Eterna, with the Schubert Philharmonic directed by Tomàs Grau.
He has a constant and intense relationship with the Banda de Barcelona, having played and premiered several works.
