Antoni Ros-Marbà is a fundamental name in the culture of the last decades. He has been principal director of the RTVE Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona City Orchestra, and the Real Galicia Philharmonic, and musical director of the Nederlands Kamer Orkest and the National Orchestra of Spain.
As a guest conductor he has led prominent orchestras from all over the world and made his debut in 1978 with the Berlin Philharmonic invited by Herbert von Karajan himself.
Among the recognitions he has received, the Premio Nacional de Música (1989), the Creu de Sant Jordi (1988), the Arthur Honneger International Disc Award for the recording of Haydn's Seven Words of Christ (1966), the Barclays Theater Award for the best operatic production in the UK in 1997 for Idomeneo, re di Creta with Scottish Opera and the Gran Teatre del Liceu Gold Medal (2012).
In 2009 two prestigious record companies, Warner Classics and Claves, published two monographic discs of Ros-Marbà conducting the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, dedicated to Frederic Mompou and Manuel de Falla.
