BIOGRAPHY
Expressive, dynamic, spectacular: the Aris Quartet has been on international stages for more than a decade. With its unmistakable sound, it has long been known as one of the finest chamber music ensembles in the world.
The musicians have performed in venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Philharmonie in Paris and the Konzerthaus in Vienna. The Aris Quartet is a frequently requested partner by soloists such as Christiane Karg, Daniel Müller-Schott, Eckart Runge, Kit Armstrong, William Youn and Nils Mönkemeyer.
The ensemble is also dedicated to intergeneric projects, such as the one it has done with the jazz pianist Omer Klein. From the beginning the musicians have also paid special attention to contemporary music. Composers such as Gerald Resch, Misato Mochizuki and Pierre-Dominique Ponnelle have entrusted the Quartet with the world premiere of their works.
Founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2009, the Aris Quartet, one of whose most important mentors has been Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), continues to perform today with an unchanged format.
The ensemble's success is no accident: having won numerous first prizes in prestigious competitions, the Aris Quartet quickly achieved international fame. The musicians have also been awarded ECHO Rising Stars by the European Concert Hall Organisation, are among the BBC's New Generation Artists and have won five prizes at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich.
In addition to their regular radio and television appearances, the Aris Quartet has already released six CD productions that have received considerable critical acclaim. They recently presented a recording featuring works by Resch and Beethoven with GENUIN's classics in May 2021.
