The ESMUC's Great Cobla Ensemble focuses on repertoires usually made up of sardanas, free-form works, works with soloists and fusion works with other disciplines such as jazz, modern music or root music. La Cobla is nourished by a large part of the works by composers who have written and are writing for this ensemble, also providing a vision of the future for the training of the students.
Throughout its career, the Cobla de l’ESMUC has been directed by teachers from the school such as Jordi Figaró, Jordi León, Jordi Vilaró, Marcel Sabaté and Pep Moliner, alternating the direction with names from the country such as Edmon Colomer, Salvador Mas, Joan Albert Amargós, Salvador Brotons, Manel Valdivieso, Manel Camp, Xavier Pagès, Lluís Vidal, Bernat Castillejo, among others.
