Cor Jove is made up of sixty singers between the ages of sixteen and twenty-five. Founded in 1986, the current conductors are Pablo Larraz and Oriol Castanyer, and Paul Perera as the pianist.
The choir has collaborated with orchestras such as the OBC, the OSV, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Gulbenkian Orchestra of Lisbon, the Ensemble Pygmalion, the ONCA and the Terrassa 48 Chamber Orchestra, among other formations. It has also worked with conductors such as H. Christophers, R. Pichon, G. Noseda, S. Rattle and S. Halsey.
Cor Jove has performed in Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Cervera and Sabadell, and in Seville, Granada, Las Palmas, as well as in Poland, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Holland and the United Kingdom.
Its recordings are Aigües de primavera (2010), Requiems (2013) by Mozart and Fauré, for Columna Música, and Musicals! (2017, Palau Records) by A. Guinovart.
The choir premiered Albert Guinovart's Requiem in Palma, Girona, Barcelona, Cervera and Esplugues de Llobregat; the Harmonium production by John Adams, in the Palau 100 cycle, with the Orfeó Català, Cor de Cambra del Palau and OBC, directed by the same composer, and a new stage production of the opera Dido & Aeneas by Henry Purcell, with Marc Rosich as the stage director and Esteve Nabona as the musical director.
In 2019, it debuted at the BBC Proms, at the London's Royal Albert Hall, performing Belshazzar's feast by William Walton, with the Orfeó Català, the choir and the orchestra of the London Symphony, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle.
In 2021, the choir premiered the Carmina Burana audiovisual on Palau Digital and TV3. It also recorded and performed in concert Albert Guinovart's version for chorus and couplet of the sardana Juny by Juli Garreta, with the couplet La Flama by Farners.
In the 2022-23 season, the "Music and Poetry" program directed by Lluís Vilamajó at the Palau should be highlighted, with works from the 20th and 21st centuries; and the program “Tonight, tonight”, with jazz standards, musical works and pop music.
Cor Jove is part of the Catalan Orfeó Choral School which receives the sponsorship of Fundación Banco Santander.
