The young violist Cristina Cordero is establishing herself as a versatile performer, in demand both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.
She has been awarded in numerous international competitions such as El Primer Palau 2020 (1st Prize and Juventudes Musicales de España Prize), the Gerhard Vogt International Chamber Music Competition 2019 (1st prize), the VI City of Vigo Viola Competition (1st prize), I Competition of the Spanish Viola Association (1st prize) and II OFMAN International String Competition (2nd prize).
Passionate about chamber music, Cristina has participated in prestigious festivals such as Verbier Festival, Schloss Elmau Festival, La Rioja Festival and Krzyzowa-Music. Furthermore, she is regularly invited to collaborate with ensembles and chamber groups throughout Europe. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Castilla la Mancha Philharmonic Orchestra, the Andrés Segovia Chamber Orchestra, the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra and the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra; and in important venues in Spain such as Teatro Real, Palau de la Música Catalana, Auditorio Príncipe Felipe in Oviedo and Auditorio Nacional in Madrid.
Born in Madrid in 1998, she began her viola studies at a very early age with Professor Alan Kovacs. After obtaining the National Award for Professional Artistic Music Education, he continued training with Professor Diemut Poppen at the Reina Sofía Superior School of Music in Madrid. Subsequently, he obtained his Bachelor in Performing Arts degree with top marks at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich under the tutelage of Professor Hariolf Schlichtig. Since 2020, she has been studying at the ESMRS with Professor Nobuko Imai. She has received training scholarships such as those from the Albéniz Foundation, the Madrid Education Council, Juventudes Musicales in Madrid, the AIE Society and the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation.
Since 2022, Cristina has been Professor of Viola at the Conservatory of Music of Aragon.
