Founded in 1996 by Didier Aschour, Dedalus is a contemporary music group based in Toulouse and associated with the GMEA - Centre National de Création Musicale d'Albi-Tarn.
It is a specialist in free instrumentation scores of contemporary experimental music, developing the arrangements, orchestrations and interpretations as a whole.
Its repertoire includes classic works of minimalism by composers such as Christian Wolff, Phill Niblock, Federico Rzewski, Tom Johnson, Moondog or Philip Glass, music by composers of the Wandelweiser movement, such as Michael Pisaro, Antoine Beuger or Jürg Frey, pieces by independent composers such as Pascale Criton, Peter Ablinger, Jo Kondo or Luc Ferrari, as well as commissions from a new generation of composers such as Catherine Lamb, Jean-Luc Guionnet and Sébastien Roux.
Ensemble Dedalus performs in Europe and the United States in venues such as Instants Chavirés, Roulette (New York), Café Oto (London), Sonorités (Montpellier), Musique Action (Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy), Angelica (Bologna), Elektricity (Reims ), Sacrum Profanum (Krakow), Philharmonie de Paris or Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
Its recordings are released on the New World Record (United States) and Potlatch (France) labels. Dedalus has the support of DRAC Occitanie, Conseil Régional Occitanie, SACEM and SPEDIDAM, as well as the support of the Institut Français, the Diaphonique Fund, FACE, Impuls Neue Musik and Occitanie en Scène.
