Erik started singing in the Stockholm Boys’ Choir at the age of 8 and studied at the renowned choir school Adolf Fredriks Musikklasser. Since 2014, he holds a bachelor’s degree in classical singing from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and in 2017 he graduated from the University College of Opera in Stockholm.
Erik Rosenius, bass, has been a member of the International Opera Studio at Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin, 2018-2020. He is also part of Barbara Hannigans collaboration project Equilibrium Young Artists.
During the last years, he has been singing in performances such as R. Wagner “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” (Nachtwächter), conducted by Daniel Barenboim and R. Strauss “Der Rosenkavalier” (Polizeikommissar) under Zubin Mehta at Staatsoper Berlin. He also sang in I. Stravinsky “The Rake’s Progress” (Father Trulove), conducted by Barbara Hannigan in Gothenburg and on tour in Europe. In 2018, he won the 2nd prize in Hjördis Schymberg Award and sang in Opera Warbergs production of W. A. Mozart "The abduction from the Seraglio" (Osmin) the same year. In Warberg he also sang W. A. Mozart “Don Giovanni” (Masetto/Commendatore) 2022.
During the season 2021-22, Erik was a member of the Gothenburg opera soloist ensemble and sang in various performances such as G. Puccini “Tosca” (Angelotti) under Ramón Tebar and G. Verdi “Rigoletto” (Ceprano) under Francesco Angelico.
Erik is often hired for oratorios and concerts such as Mozart “Requiem” under Barbara Hannigan with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and Bach “Weihnachtsoratorium” under Jan Willem de Vriend with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra.
During the season 2022-23, he sings R. Strauss “Ariadne auf Naxos” (Truffaldin) and R. Strauss "Salome" (Fünfter Jude) at The Royal Opera in Stockholm. He finishes the season with G. Verdi “Macbeth” (Banco) at Läckö Slott, Sweden.
