He is a musicologist, professor-researcher at the University of the Balearic Islands and specialist in the traditional music of Mallorca. He studied at the universities of Barcelona (UAB) and Bologna (DAMS) and subsequently spent research periods in the United States (Cuny, New York) and teaching in Italy (La Sapienza, Rome).
For twenty years he has been studying the Song of the Sibyl as a living social and cultural phenomenon. Among his publications stand out El Cant de la Sibil·la Patrimoni de la Humanitat (2013), The Song of El Cant de la Sibil·la a Mallorca (2012), La Sibil·la a les portes de la UNESCO (2010) or La Sibil·la i les Matines a Mallorca (2005) with a team coordinated by Jaume Ayats.
This 2022 he has published La música que ve de Déu, a synthesis of the physical and spiritual spaces where music is played as a religious fact, and La Sibil·la després de la UNESCO. De patrimoni inmaterial a la reafirmació de la identitat, a study on the constants and changes of this tradition during the last ten years, both by Lleonard Muntaner Editor.
Between 2009 and 2015 he was appointed by the Council of Mallorca to write the follow-up reports of the Song of the Sibyl by UNESCO on the List of Intangible Assets of Humanity, and was a member of the research team La Sibila. Sonido. Imagen. Liturgia. Escena (UAB, 2012-2014) coordinated by Maricarmen Gómez Muntané.
He is currently a member of the Popular Culture Advisory of the Mallorca Council as an expert on the Sibyl and is recognized as one of the most accredited voices on the subject.
