Curious by definition and eager to continue growing as an artist and a person, Gemma Abrié (Barcelona, 1984) took to a stage for the first time when she was 16 years old and today she is one of the voices of Catalan jazz with the longest track record and solidity. Singer by vocation, composer and occasional double bassist, she has already traveled a long way as a vocalist for numerous jazz formations in Catalonia and France.
Both as a solo singer and as a chorister, she has collaborated with a long list of musicians who embrace areas ranging from jazz to gospel, through pop-rock, Jamaican music or soul; lately she has also been approaching Mediterranean sounds. Specialist in the role of vocalist in a big band, her versatility has allowed her to collaborate in projects as a singer-bassist (WoM, Abrié Cordero Duo, Cece Giannotti, Toni Xuclà and Clàudia Cabero) or as a vocalist in contemporary musical productions with Catalan poetry (Els fruits saborosos or Nadal Big Band with Vicens Martín Dream Big Band, Bestiari by Pere Quart with ESMuC Jazz Project or Bestiari by Josep Carner with The New Catalan Ensemble). She has also participated as a soloist in children's musical works (Cantània 2018 at L'Auditori de Barcelona, with music by Lluís Vidal), performances of painting and music with Bianca Nguema, the fusion project of jazz with early music Jazzcantic, forming a duet with pianist Manel Camp and Ensemble Méridien, or in the solo adventure with double bass and voice called SoloBasSing, as a result of which she has formed a duet with the guitarist Josep Traver, whom he met when participating in the saxophonist Martí Serra's album.
Superior Degree in Jazz Singing and Modern Music at ESMUC (2012) and cum laude in the final project Wondering, she currently combines artistic activity on stage with teaching.
