Born in Girona (Spain), Gemma Coma-Alabert won the first prize at the Paris National Conservatory and later, she continued her training at the Guildhall School of Music in London and at the Lyon National Opera.

In the opera field, she played roles such as Carmen, Ottavia (Poppea), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Dorabella (em>Cosi fan tutte), Isaura (Tancredi) and Teresa (La Sonnambula). She sung at the Liceu de Barcelona, Palacio de las Artes in Valencia, Bilbao Opera, Oviedo Opera, Montpellier National Opera, Champs Elysees Theater in Paris and Teatro Real in Madrid, among others.

Her most recent symphonic vocal repertoire includes Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Schumann's Szenen Aves Goethes Faust, Pau Casals' El Pessebre, Manuel de Falla's La Atlántida, Symphony No. 8 by Mahler or Dante by Enric Granados. She sung with orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Montpellier, Orchestra of Liceu de Barcelona, as well as the OBC (Barcelona Symphony Orchestra), among others.

Ha treballat amb directors com Ivor Bolton, Harry Bicket, Fabio Biondi, Ottavio Dantone, Stéphane Denève, Pablo Gonzáles, Lawrence Foster, Zubin Mehta, Josep Pons, Antoni RosMarbà, i directors d’escena com Peter Brook, Claus Guth, Laurent Pelly, Krzysztof Warlikowski i Barrie Kosky.

His recordings include Ariane et Barbe-bleue with the Liceu Opera Barcelona label and Bottesini's Requiem with the London Philharmonic and the Naxos label. She also recorded the symphonic poem Dante by Granados with the OBC, published by Naxos.

This season she sung as mezzo-soprano soloist in the concert of soprano Anna Netrebko at Teatro Real in Madrid, where she has also played the role of Teresa in the opera Sonnambula and Nixon in China by John Adams.
