Julius Schepansky is an emerging concert artist exploring Classical works from Bach to Mozart, Sibelius to Janaček, contemporary works and works dedicated to him. He completed his musical formation with his mentor Claudia Buder and his Bachelor’s Degree under Mie Miki 2022.
Julius Schepansky’s performances include 10 live to air radio broadcasts for regional and national Deutsche Rundfunk as well as solo and chamber music appearances in venues such as the Köln and Essen Philharmonics, Hamburg’s Laieszhalle and the Düsseldorf Tonhalle, invitations offered to him as laureate of the Nachwuchsförderpreis (NRW) 2017 and Bundesauswahl Konzerte Junger Künstler (BAKJK) 2018. A seasoned international soloist Julius has connected with audiences with tours to Japan, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Russia and Czech, supported financially by Berlin’s Akademie der Künste and Hapag Lloyd among others. He has also performed at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Heidelberger Frühling and Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzhacker festivals.
An artist of diverse interests Schepansky is the 2019 winner of the Rising Stars Mönchengladbach 2019 jazz competition for piano with signal solo and trio appearances in Germany, Senegal and Bali. Julius’s recent explorations include a trip to New York City’s mecca of progressive jazz venues, including the Village Vanguard, Smalls, Dizzy’s, Mezzrow and Barbayeux and musicological study of facsimile manuscripts of the works of J.S. Bach, Domenico Scarlatti and C.P.E. Bach in preparation for future programs.
As a leading accordionist of his generation, Julius was invited to participate in Canada’s Lunenburg Academy of Performing Arts 2020. In July 2022 he completed the Canadian Career Development Performance Apprenticeship (CDPA) a unique seminar founded by artistic director Joseph Petric for emerging artists laser focused on interpretive success in the international concert hall.
