Born in Los Angeles, soprano Lauren Michelle has gained international recognition for her rich tone, musical versatility, and compelling artistry. She has sung roles at Vienna State Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Welsh National Opera, Dutch National Opera, and Washington National Opera to name a few. Recently she made her debut at Teatro alla Scala in the televised double bill of Kurt Weill’s 7 Deadly Sins/Mahagonny Songspiel. She performed her first Tatyana in Eugene Ognegin and has enjoyed performing multiple traditional Mimi’s in La Bohème. This season she debuted the innovative backwards production of La Bohème at Boston Lyric Opera and Spoleto Festival USA.

This season on the concert stage, she will perform twice at Teatro alla Scala. She has performed her iconic Poulenc Gloria, conducted by Mikko Frank with The Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra and appeared with the Berlin Philharmonic under Marc Minkowski in performances of Rossini’s Petite Messe Solonnelle. She has frequented Carnegie Hall, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Osawa Hall and has performed under the baton of conductors such as Michele Mariotti, Plácido Domingo and Seji Osawa.

Ms. Michelle works equally at home in modeling, radio, television, and film. She has been featured on United States National Public Radio since 1999, and was a featured artist on the Fox hit television series Empire.

A prizewinner of more than fifteen international competitions, including the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, Ms. Michelle has a ten-time first prize-winning streak in the stretch of a month in Europe cut short by covid. Lauren Michelle is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and The Juilliard School.
