Musician, composer, and orchestra conductor. He combines musical composition for film, television, musicals, and documentaries with works for choral and chamber concerts, jazz, pop-rock, modern music, and “cobla” music. His eclectic profile has taken him from directing a world premiere by John Williams to composing a Magnificat for the Sagrada Familia. Currently, he lives in Los Angeles where he composes for American, European, and Asian projects.
In the field of concert music, he has been the resident composer at the Palau de la Música for the 2020/2022 seasons. In June 2021, he received the commission from John Williams to conduct the world premiere of his Prelude and Scherzo for piano and orchestra. As a composer, his notable works include pieces like “Christmas Epic Poem” (premiered by the City of Birmingham at the Symphony Hall), “Un bri d’estel” (premiered at the Berlin Konzerthaus), or “The Silent Noise” (premiered at the Sage Gateshead in Newcastle and at the Cité de la Musique in Paris). In 2022 and 2023, he goes on a tour with the Franz Schubert Filharmonia and premieres the piece “Mickeymousing.” He is the author of the musical “Josafat.”
In film, highlights include the Marvel series “Agent Carter,” films like “El árbol sin sombra” (Best Soundtrack 2014 at the MundoBSO Awards) or “The Little Wizard” (Jerry Goldsmith Award 2014), and documentaries like “Oswald, el falsificador” (nominated for a Goya), “San Mao,” or those created for National Geographic, “Neanderthal” and “The Blind Monkey.”
As a conductor, he has directed orchestras such as the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, the Franz Schubert Filharmonia, the Symphony Orchestra of Vallès, the Symphony Orchestra of Budapest, the Orquestra Studio Primo of Sofia, and the Gio Symphonia.
In the realm of modern music and major events, he has arranged and conducted symphonic pop concerts sharing the stage with artists like Ramon Mirabet, Judit Neddermann, Lluís Llach, Maldita Nerea, Mishima, or Txarango. He is also a founding member of The New Catalan Ensemble, with Joan Díaz and Andrea Motis at the helm. He has been the lead tiple soloist of the Cobla Sant Jordi-Ciutat de Barcelona, where he has performed with artists like Niño Josele, Roger Mas, or Pascal Comelade. He has received the Jerry Goldsmith International Awards, Indie Series Awards, MundoBSO Awards, Crystal Pine Awards, and ScoreMagacine Awards.
As a writer, he is the author of “Apologia i escarni de l’estupidesa humana” and the theater works premiered at the Brisk Festival in Los Angeles, “Hollywood I- Judge” and “God Save Tinder.”
