With an impeccable musical education with six higher degrees and extensive experience in conducting, composing, performing and teaching, Marcel Sabaté is one of the most relevant emerging conductors on the current musical scene.

He obtained the Higher Degree in Orchestra Conducting with Honors Matricula and Honorary Award at the Barcelona Conservatory of Music and has done post-graduate courses and conducting courses with the teachers Antoni Ros-Marbà, Manel Valdivieso, Jordi Mora and Albert Argudo.

He perfected orchestra conducting for 5 years (2006-2010) at the Vienna International Course Wiener Meisterkurse with Salvador Mas and Jörg Bierhance where he obtained the first prize. He conducts the final concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus leading the Vidin State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sinfonieorchester Kaposvár and the Sinfonietta Baden.

He has been principal conductor of the GIOrquesta for seven years and, currently, he conducts the Cobla Sant Jordi-Ciutat de Barcelona, the Cobla La Principal del Llobregat and the Cobla de l’ESMUC. He is also a teacher of flabiol and tambourine at ESMUC and at the Isaac Albéniz Conservatory of Music of the Diputació de Girona.
