Maria Canyigueral has been described by the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia as "a pianist with a great personality". Prize-winner in international competitions, in 2010 she became a finalist in the XII Concours International de piano of Ile de France and in 2012 she won the second prize in the Wifrid Parry Prize in London, as well as the second prize in the Max Pirani Trio Prize in London (2013) and second prize at the "Antón García Abril" International Chamber Music Competition in Granada (2014) together with cellist Alexander Rolton.
In recent seasons she has given recitals in Tokyo and Nagoya (Japan), at the Wigmore Hall and St John Smith Square (London), at the Ljubljana Festival (Slovenia), at the Lozer Cultureel (Belgium), at the Palau de la Música Catalana, at the Girona Auditorium, at the Caputxins Auditorium in Figueres within the Schubertíada, at the Noches Clásicas Festival in Cádiz, at the Portaferrada Festival, at the Cervià de Ter Festival organized by Ibercamera, and in several Catalan cities within the Musicians net by Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya.
In June 2018, she premiered her project called Avant-guarding Mompou at London's Conway Hall, as part of an unprecedented cycle of nine European composers written especially for the occasion and paying tribute to the Songs and Dances by Frederic Mompou. In 2019, she presented it at the Palau de la Música Catalana and at the Juan March Foundation in Madrid. In April 2020, it was published by the German record label Audite, and was praised by internationally prestigious magazines such as International Piano Magazine, Pizzicato Magazine, Melómano and Revista Musical Catalana.
She is currently recording Beethoven's complete for cello and piano together with cellist Ramon Bassal at the Teldex Studio in Berlin.
