Mauro Borgioni studied singing at the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan, the Conservatorio Maderna in Cesena and the Fondation Royaumont in Paris. He has collaborated with orchestras and ensembles including Concerto Italiano, the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, La Capella Reial de Catalunya, the “Lorenzo da Ponte” Orchestra, Die Kölner Akademie and Concerto Romano. He has worked with important conductors and musicians including Rinaldo Alessandrini, Jordi Savall, Antonio Florio, Timothy Brock, Juraj Valčuha, Jonathan Webb and Lorenzo Ghielmi. He also performed in some of the most prestigious venues and theatres such as the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Kölner Philharmonie in Cologne, the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing and the University of California in Los Angeles.
Specialized in baroque music, the most relevant roles he has played are that of Orfeu a The Orfeo by Monteverdi at the Regio Theater in Turin, at the Teatre Comunale in Ferrara and at the Teatre Basileu França in Goiânia (Brazil); that of Ulysses a Ulisse's return to the homeland, by Monteverdi, at the Reate Festival in Rome; that of Aeneas a Dido & Aeneas, by Purcell, at the Teatro Alessandro Bonci, in Cesena, at the Teatro Alighieri, in Ravenna, and at the Teatro Verdi, in Gorizia; that of Acrimante a L'wicked punish, by Melani, at the Reate Festival; that of Haman a Esther, of Handel, and that of Polyphemus a Acis and Galatea, by Handel, at the Teatre Comunale in Ferrara.
His repertoire includes masterpieces such as Christmas Oratorio, Matthaus Passion & Johannes Passion, Mass in B Minor by J. S. Bach; Handel's Messiah and La Resurrezione as well as masterpieces of classical works like Paukenmesse and Nelson Mass by Haydn, Requiem by Mozart and Fauré.
Mauro Borgioni also regularly participates in contemporary repertoire. He has played the role of the traveler a Curlew River and from Noah to Noye's Fludde (both works by Britten), with the Camerata Strumentale Città di Prato and Jonathan Webb, as well as performing Aye in Akhnaten, by Philip Glass, with the Orchestra of the Regio Theater in Turin, conducted by Dante Anzolini.
He has participated in various festivals and concert seasons in Europe, Mexico, Canada and the USA, and has recorded for the record labels Alpha Productions, Brilliant Classics, Stradivarius, K617, Glossa, Fra Bernardo and Ricercar, and also for radio and television broadcasters.
