This season, Kopatchinskaja again transcends boundaries with a bold musical experiment to create the Neo-Dada opera Vergeigt. Kopatchinskaja is the Artist Spotlight at the Barbican Centre and Associated Artist of SWR Experimentalstudio. 2022-23 also sees Kopatchinskaja premiere her new project In search of a lost melody and a revival of Maria Mater Meretrix with Anna Prohaska on a European tour, also to be released on CD. Later, Kopatchinskaja reunites with long-term recital partner Fazil Say for a European record release tour.
Highlights of last season include a European tour with the Philharmonia Orchestra and a return to the BBC Proms. Kopatchinskaja brought her vast creative potential to residencies including Berliner Philharmoniker and Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
Her priority is 20th and 21st century music and working with living composers. Kopatchinskaja directs staged concerts and collaborates with orchestras, conductors, and festivals worldwide. After the international success of Bye Bye Beethoven with Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Patricia Kopatchinskaja is back for a new staging with ensemble Les Adieux,on fast environmental deterioration and loss of the natural world. Kopatchinskaja’s other projects explore music in contemporary contexts, like Dies Irae, a reflection on the growing environmental crisis, which she took to Glasgow during the COP26 summit.
Her discography includes over 30 recordings. Recent CD releases include Les Plaisirs Illuminés with Sol Gabetta and Camerata Bern, and Le monde selon George Antheil with Joonas Ahonen (both on Alpha Classics).
Kopatchinskaja is a humanitarian ambassador for Terre des Hommes and received the Swiss Grand Award for Music from the Swiss Federal Office of Culture in 2017.
