Since its formation in Barcelona in 2019, the Atenea Quartet has become one of the most relevant Catalan ensembles of its generation. In their short career, they have won a number of prestigious awards, including the Prix Jeunes Solistes Credit Suisse 2023, becoming the first quartet to receive the honour, the Palau de la Música Catalana 2022 award and the Orpheus Chamber Music Competition. Despite their youth, the quartet has been invited to perform throughout Europe at venues and festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, Wigmore Hall, the Barcelona String Quartet Biennial, the Stadt Casino in Basel, the Vilabertran Schubertíada, the Wissembourg International Music Festival, the Aix-en-Provence Festival and the Juan March Foundation.
Recently, the Atenea Quartet has been selected for support from the London-based Young Classical Artist Trust and as a resident member of the ProQuartet network based in Paris. The Atenea Quartet has also completed an artistic residency in the Netherlands organised by the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam. Currently, they are continuing their musical training at the Hochschule für Musik FHNW in Basel and have been part of the string quartet chair at the International Institute of Chamber Music in Madrid. Previously, during their time in Barcelona, the Atenea Quartet received musical tuition from the Casals Quartet. In addition, the ensemble has participated in various academies and masterclasses, such as the Prussia Cove International Seminar, the Swiss Chamber Academy and the academy of the Aix-en-Provence Festival. Their public appearances have featured national and world premières of works by Raquel García Tomás, Antoni Ros Marbá and Mauro Hertig.
