Tiento Nuovo, founded in 2016 by Madrid-born harpsichordist Ignacio Prego, who is also its artistic director, has quickly become a regular attraction in concert halls and at festivals around the country.
Its recent concert dates in Spain include appearances on the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (CNDM) concert circuits, at the National Auditorium in Madrid, in the Historical Music Cycle of León and Salamanca Barroca, at the Conde Duque Auditorium in Madrid, in the La Europa de Murillo cycle in Seville, at the International Festival of Sacred Art in Madrid, the Fundación Juan March, the Landesmuseum Württemberg in Stuttgart, and the Royal Theatre at the Łazienki Palace in Warsaw.
The group’s recording of the Concerti Grossi by Charles Avison, based on sonatas by Scarlatti (Glossa, 2021), won a Diapason d´Or award and was heralded as ‘outstanding’ by Scherzo magazine, in addition to being highly praised in European press reviews.
With a variable line up, the group's broad repertoire spans Baroque and early Classicism. Recently it has taken part in projects with soloists such as British cellist Steven Isserlis, Swiss recorder player Maurice Steger and soprano Núria Rial.
Tiento Nuovo’s multidisciplinary collaborations include working with award-winning actor Pedro Casablanc in La Conjuración de Venecia (The Conspiracy of Venice), an original work by Ignacio Prego, and with the Italian theatre company Teatri 35, presenting Chiaroscuro at the Fundación Juan March in Madrid, plus performances at the Úbeda and Baeza Early Music Festival. In 2023 Tiento Nuovo will be appearing at L’Auditori de Barcelona, the Santander International Festival, the Espacio Turina in Seville, and in CNDM events.
