Vilde Frang's extraordinary musical talents and exceptional lyricism have made her one of the most recognized violinists with the most personality of her generation. In 2012 she was unanimously awarded the Credit Suisse Prize for Young Musicians, which led her to make her debut with the Vienna Philharmonic, under the direction of Bernard Haitink, at the Lucerne Festival.
He has recently performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchester de Paris, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Staatskapelle in Dresden, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and, in the United States, with the Cleveland Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony at the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center in New York. He has also played with the Vienna Symphony at the Musikverein and on tour, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Chamber Orchestra of Scotland, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France, the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra of Germany in Bremen, the Elbe Philharmonic Orchestra of North German Radio (NDR), as well as with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. During the 21-22 season, Vilde was a soloist with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra and also music-in-residence with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout the season, he played with this orchestra on two occasions and in concert with the pianist Denis Kozhukin.
In the 22-23 season Vilde will again perform with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin and the London Symphony Orchestra. Vilde will also undertake several tours with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (SWR) with Teodor Currentzis at the helm, and the City of Birmingham, under the baton of Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla, among others. This season Vilde will also be music resident of the Vienna Symphony and will perform at both the Musikverein and the Konzerthaus in Vienna.
Born in Norway, Vilde made her debut at just twelve years old with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra under the auspices of Mariss Jansons. He studied at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo, at the Hamburg Conservatory of Music with Kolja Blacher and at the Kronberg Academy with Ana Chumachenco.
Vilde plays a Guarneri del Gesu violin from 1734 that a European patron generously lent him.
