Program
Guitarist and composer Mary Halvorson is one of the most fascinating talented musicians on New York’s buzzing jazz scene. Described in the local media as “NYC’s least predictable improviser” and “one of the most exciting and original guitarists in jazz”, Halvorson has made widely varying albums as the head of different ensembles, exploring work as a trio, quintet, septet, octet and solo artist. Code Girl, the project that she will be presenting at L’Auditori, was ranked one of the top ten jazz albums of the year by NPR, the prestigious music platform, which highlighted her capacity to surprise listeners. Accompanied by her loyal base musicians, with the addition of a saxophonist, trumpet player and two voices, Halvorson engages in a bold experiment through songs that reflect her influences from jazz, folk and improvisation.
