AGUSTÍ CHARLES: The Black Windows (2022) 15’ – World premiere, work commissioned by Barcelona Creació Sonora
The musical aesthetic of Maestro Agustí Charles (Manresa, 1960) becomes a parallel space for expression, mirroring the depth and poetic imagery of the poet Rainer Maria Rilke (Prague, 1875 – Valmont, 1926). Known not only for his artistic creations but also for his teaching work, Maestro Charles, a disciple of Josep Soler, Luigi Nono, and Samuel Adler, is a true scholar of orchestral color and its combinations. In The Black Windows, he delves into the darkness of the poet’s soul through the colors and textures that the band and the human voice can offer, establishing themselves as vehicles of poetic expression. Charles and Rilke ultimately bring to life a shared idea: the poem as an object of art, a tangible product crafted from an awareness of artistic creation.
