Carlos Ramón, deputy director of the Municipal Band, proposes a very attractive program that will make clear the range of sounds of the contemporary symphonic band.
The well-known morning song by Edward Elgar will be framed by the final apotheosis of the Tightrope dance by the Belgian Strens and the Symphony no. 1 by Vassili Kalínnikov in a version for band by maestro Jan Cober. Despite dying very young, Kalinnikov's talent was appreciated by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov, and his music takes us to the essence of Russian Romanticism, with inspired melodies and a distinguished style.
