Offstage is a series created by L’Auditori de Barcelona to showcase its musical protagonists beyond the stage. In this second season, we delve into the more personal side of these artists: they open up their inner world to talk to us about their creative process, inspirations, obsessions, challenges…

Composer David Lang (Los Angeles, 1957), a Pulitzer Prize winner, arrives in Barcelona for the national premiere of Prisoner of the State (2019) with the OBC Orchestra, the men’s choir of the Cor Jove de l’Orfeó Català, and the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana at the Grec Festival in Barcelona.

During his stay, Lang explains to us what it has been like to work with the Orchestra, his journey as a successful composer, and he shares his beliefs and opinions on music and creation.

Prisoner of the State was commissioned and co-produced by L’Auditori, the New York Philharmonic, the De Doelen Concert Hall, The Barbican, the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Brugge, and the Malmö Opera.
