pROGRAMME
She is one of the most exciting newcomers to explode onto the scene, one of the creators and improvisers with the biggest personalities among the new batch of jazz musicians, and a remarkable trumpet player, as well as a singer. She came to the trumpet almost by chance, in a round of instruments at music school, although she later discovered that a grandfather who she never met had been a cornet player. With a powerful, well-rounded, and warm sound, Alba Careta’s trumpet is reminiscent of one of today’s most outstanding trumpet players, Ambrose Akinmusire. Her latest album, Teia, is an exercise in purification through fire, but also of celebration. A luminous and lively work that bears witness to her talent, recognised at the 2023 Alícia Prizes.
