One of the youthful prodigies of current Persian music, Ali Ghamsari, offers his first concert in the west. At just twenty three years of age, this virtuoso lutist and composer has already provided numerous of his own works for established masters in thus tradition, as well as for prestigious representatives of the new generation, such as Homayoun Shajarian and Alireza Shahmohammadi with, whom he also participates in the Festival. With the collaboration of the percussionist Massed Nadir, Ali Ghamsari presents us with a classic duet of lute – tar or setar – and tombak. The most important melodic and rhythmic instruments in the cult music tradition of Iran brought together in a minimal formation but with inexhaustible sonorous possibilities.
