Programme

This concert is included in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of L’Auditori

In the week in which L’Auditori turns 25, the Barcelona Symphonic Band hosts a fantastic musical celebration with some exceptional guests.

The programme starts with the Brass Quintet Concerto, by conductor and composer Salvador Brotons. Performing as the solo brass quintet is the acclaimed ensemble Spanish Brass. Winners of the Premio Nacional de Música 2020 they have spent over 30 years as one of the most important, active and dynamic groups on the international scene.

In part two, Albert Guinovart premieres the Gaudí Symphony, a work specially commissioned by the Band for the celebration. It is inspired by the musical of the same name performed in Barcelona 20 years ago to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Antoni Gaudí. The musical themes that trace the life of the great architect are in the form of flashbacks, ranging from his death to his childhood dreams, and focusing on his relationships with his patrons and with the three significant women in his life: his mother, his niece and his true love.
