Program
The musical thinking of the composer José Manuel López López (Madrid, 1956) integrates a purified compositional technique – from a particularly extensive range in temporal and timbric dimensions of musical material – with a poetic imaginary and a personal and evocative sound. Work with the performers is a variable that is particularly decisive in the evolution of the works of López López: his search for specific soundworlds and processes, which in many cases are extremely technically demanding for the performer, allow for a more flexible approach to his way of writing a defined sound idea.Perception occupies a central element in the philosophy of the works of López López. The Barcelona Clarinet Players, a clarinet quartet with an extraordinary permeability and technical and musical skill, take up the challenge of premièring La Trace, a work commissioned by L’Auditori and the CNDM for four clarinets, four Bluetooth speakers and video. The filmmaker and audiovisual artist Pascal Auger (who was a former collaborator with the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze) completes the premiere with a video-creation specially devised for the music of López López.
