Program
Under the baton of its founder, Jordi Savall, and using period techniques and instruments, Le Concert des Nations orchestra will breathe new life into two iconic works from Beethoven’s production, which are also two key pieces in the history of music: the Third and Fifth symphonies.Last season, Savall performed the first two works of the complete series of Beethoven’s symphonies to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of the composer from Bonn. He returns to us this season to perform a further four symphonies, and will conclude his Beethoven project at the beginning of next season with a rendition of the composer’s Ninth symphony.
The first concert of this year will feature Le Concert des Nations, under the baton of its founder, Jordi Savall. Using period techniques and instruments, the ensemble will breathe new life into two iconic works from Beethoven’s production, which are also key pieces in the history of music: the Third and Fifth symphonies. Savall revisits Eroica 25 years after recording it (an album that was re-issued under his Alia Vox label in 2016), delivering a rendition full of contrasts that, without compromise, explores the innovative and dramatic nature of the score. In addition to the Thirdsymphony, we will also enjoy the Fifth, the most frequently played of Beethoven’s symphonies, and that with the most famous opening in history. Destiny knocks at the door in this not-to-be-missed musical event: as historical as it is present-day, as revolutionary as it is current.
