Programme
Fantasies and differences shows the path taken between the first ones differences published by Luis de Narváez for vihuela in 1538 and those published for Spanish guitar in the 17th century: an instrumental and musical evolution based on a genre that consists of variations on sacred and profane melodies with a language similar to improvisation.
With the books of Spanish vihuela players of the 16th century (Luis de Milán, Luis de Narváez and Alonso Mudarra, among others), and later with those of Gaspar Sanz, Santiago de Murcia and Francesc Guerau between the 17th and 18th centuries, the Spanish repertoire for plucked string instruments is one of the great treasures of musical literature. Belisana Ruiz, an expert in historical music for plucked string instruments, will perform a musical journey that showcases the exceptional collection of guitars and vihuelas of the Museu de la Música.
