Program
The Chamber Music season invites the Calidore String Quartet, one of the most highly rated quartets of the moment, together with oboist Cristina Gómez Godoy, who has played as principal oboist with orchestras of such renown as the Berlin Philharmonic.L’Auditori de Barcelona continues its focus on the string quartet as an exceptional genre of chamber music. This season, we will enjoy three projects that are representative of the European, American and Russian schools.
The American school will be represented by the Calidore String Quartet, one of the most highly rated quartets of the moment, who performed at L’Auditori during the last edition of the Festival Emergents Barcelona. The concert repertoire offers us another of Ludwig van Beethoven’s op. 18 string quartets, No. 4 on this occasion. It was in this composition that Beethoven began to explore the emotional depth of the tonality of C minor, which he would reserve for his more dramatic works. The Calidore String Quartet will also play String Quartet in G minor by Edvard Grieg, a light work with a melodic spirit. Finally, we will have the chance to hear the oboe quartets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Benjamin Britten, both of which will test the technical and expressive skills of the guest oboist, Cristina Gómez Godoy, who has played as principal oboist with orchestras of such renown as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Filarmonica della Scala of Milan, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
