Program

Canta Gran (Singing for the Over 60s) is a programme that emerged directly out of the social ‎welfare policies of Barcelona City Council in 2002. It aspires to increase the active role of older ‎people in society and give them the opportunity to participate as fully as possible. This ‎activity aims to be part of a further cycle of personal growth and quality of life, adding “life to ‎years and not just years to life”. This project has successfully shone a spotlight on choirs for ‎older people from all the participating cities.

If you want to participate in the concert aimed at the singers of Barcelona city that will take place on 23/12/2024, write an email to concertajuntamentbcn@cantagran.cat and they will inform you of the registration process. Registration opens on June 1, 2024 and will remain open until July 10, 2024 (or until the maximum number of singers are registered).
If you want to participate in the concert aimed at singers in the metropolitan area that will take place on 28/01/2025, write an email to concerts@cantagran.cat and they will inform you of the registration process. Registration opens on June 1, 2024 and will remain open until July 10, 2024 (or until the maximum number of singers are registered).

“The baguette and the rose” is a show based on some of the best-known French songs of the 60s and 70s. We will have some anthems such as “La vida en rosa”, “L’important és la rosa” or “No em lamento de nothing”, classics such as “La bohemia” or “Under the sky of Paris”, incursions into pop culture with “Wax doll” or “Champs Elisées” and trips to nostalgia with “The old lovers” or “The stranger ” reviewing the main authors of the time such as Piaf, Aznavour, Brel, or Trenet and not forgetting Moustaky, Bécaud or Gainsbourg. All the songs are performed in Catalan, with translations adapted to the music of Espinàs, Pujadó, Vinyals and others.
