The Chamber Music Season will kick off with a major project to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Casals Quartet which involves performing the complete string quartets by Beethoven in six remarkable concerts. The chamber music season starts this year with a major project celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Casals Quartet. This project has been planned in association with the Wigmore Hall in London, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Konserthuset in Stockholm and the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (Spanish National Centre for the Diffusion of Music). Within the compendium of music composed for string quartet, the works of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, composed towards the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th centuries, are absolutely essential listening. The Casals Quartet offers their interpretation of the Complete String Quartets of Beethoven in six stunning concerts. From the first string quartets of 1798 to the last, written in 1826. They will be performing the 16 string quartets, along with the composer’s transcription of the piano sonata Opus. 14.1 and the Great Fugue Opus 133. Accompanying them, at each concert, will be a specially commissioned piece created for the occasion. The composers for these first two concerts will be Mattan Porat and Francisco Coll. A veritable anthology of Chamber Music in Barcelona.
