Refilars is an exercise in creative experimentation with the Mallorcan ‘glosa’ (ballad), in which singer Clara Fiol revises the tradition of her homeland, without renouncing the present. Trained in jazz and modern music at the Taller de Músics, Fiol refines old melodies through the sounds of wood, strings, and electronic effects, taking them to new terrains such as the fandango and the chacarera (Argentinian folk dance). Accompanied by a string quintet and percussion, Fiol not only modernises her legacy, but also reinvents while keeping her roots alive. Refilars is not the nostalgic evocation of a distant past, but rather a new way of continuing to weave the tradition of the glosa in Mallorca through song.
