Programme
As part of the Festival Emergents, the KamBrass Quintet, a group of successful young performers who share “curiosity and a passion for chamber music”, will feature in Anthony Plog’s Concerto 2010. It will be preceded by the symphonic picture La sega, a work based on popular airs created by Joaquim Zamacois in 1928, demonstrating the mastery of a composer who is undeservedly little known to the general public.
The ESMUC’s Composition class has commissioned a piece from young composer Irene Plass. It will be premiered at L’Auditori, a unique privilege, in a concert that will conclude with works by Amando Blanquer, one of the leading composers of the 20th century. His Concerto for Band, written in 1971, is a paradigmatic example of his precious vision. It displays a powerful, melodically appealing strength, also evident in works such as Tarde de abril.
