CANTA GRAN. EL CAFÈ DE LA VIDA
Climent and Rita haven’t seen each other for over 40 years. They were born and grew up in the same village, where they fell in love and went out together, but then everything changed. Their lives took very different directions and today, as if time had stood still, they meet again in the “Cafè de la vida”. A tender journey written by Gemma Ventura in memory of her grandparents, based on stories shared with her by members of the Canta Gran senior citizens’ choir. The story, with music by composer Josep Ollé, touches on every stage of our lives, and pays tribute to our past, present and future selves.

Program
Canta Gran (Singing for the Over 60s) is a programme that emerged directly out of the social welfare policies of Barcelona City Council in 2002. It aspires to increase the active role of older people in society and give them the opportunity to participate as fully as possible. This activity aims to be part of a further cycle of personal growth and quality of life, adding “life to years and not just years to life”. This project has successfully shone a spotlight on choirs for older people from all the participating cities.
