Programme
Georg Friedrich Händel was, by definition, a traveling man and, by vocation, a theater composer. The eagerness to learn turned a young musician into a master in all genres: oratorio, opera, cantata, religious music and instrumental music.
In 1707 he began working as resident composer with the Marquis Francesco Maria Ruspoli, who commissioned him a complete oratorio for Easter the following year, with which he intended to impress the Pope of Rome himself. Handel gave shape to a masterful score: La Resurrezione, which narrates the events that take place between Christ's burial on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday. The premiere took place at the Bonelli Palace on April 8, 1708, Resurrection Sunday.
