Programme
The JACK Quartet, internationally renowned for its spectacular technique and interest in highly complex repertoires, performs Austrian composer Georg Friedrich Haas’s third string quartet.
Following the theme of darkness in Haas’s other works, In iij. Noct must be performed entirely in the dark. The score is basically a list of interpretative proposals that the musicians choose freely from. On stage, communication between them is semi-improvised and based on the sounds they hear during the piece. The score also indicates that the musicians should sit as far apart from each other as possible, restricting communication even more.
In iij. Noct is a unique and suggestive experience, in which darkness compels the audience to listen in a precise, determined way.
