Programme
From France comes Diotima, a string quartet with a high profile in the European creative music scene today. For this visit to L’Auditori, the quartet presents a programme that synthesises modernity and expressionism.
The world premiere of Catalan composer José Río-Pareja’s second quartet is accompanied by the national premiere of Sternenstill by Swedish composer Lisa Streich. Both composers use sound materials that are eminently historical, but these are filtered using the deconstruction techniques that feature in much of the contemporary music produced since the last third of the 20th century.
The concert also includes a key piece from the repertoire of the second Viennese school: Alban Berg’s Lyric Suite, based on the twelve-tone technique.
