Programme

David Gimeno (Barcelona, 1996) is the person behind the initials DG. The young drummer trained at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), followed by a master’s degree in performance at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. The ESMUC was also the birthplace of the quintet with which Gimeno makes his debut as band leader. He is accompanied by Álvaro Ocón (trumpet), Dylan Chandler (tenor saxophone), Kevin Díaz (piano and keyboards) and Ferran Rico (electric bass). Their music is eminently rhythmic and contagious, with electronic touches. Fusion jazz with elements of funk, soul and rhythm-and-blues.
