Programme

Created by Jordi Savall and Lluís Vilamajó, the Jove Capella Reial de Catalunya has provided essential support for generations of young singers specialising in historicist interpretation at an international level. Their concerts combine music from the Hispanic Golden Age with works from recent decades. In this programme, under the title Camins de l’ànima (Paths of the Soul), the pulsating sound of our finest Renaissance polyphony can be enjoyed, represented by the paradigmatic triumvirate of Francisco Guerrero, Cristóbal de Morales and Tomás Luis de Victoria. Pieces by Palestrina and Mateo Flecha “the Elder”, also from the 16th century, will share the programme with contemporary work by Arvo Pärt, Patricia van Ness and Bernat Vivancos, all rooted in the best choral tradition.
