Ensemble Container
Programme
Container Ensemble, based in Switzerland, offers an experience based on mechanised sound and electronics. The programme includes both established composers of mechanical music, such as Conlon Nancarrow, and young composers who have already made a name for themselves, like Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri.
This concert is a unique opportunity to discover a musical form centred on rhythm, with machines, electronics and performers working together to create highly original aesthetic effects.
The concert includes the world premiere of the work SPäT (2023-24) for EMS Synthi AKS, an instrument from the Museum of Music collection restored in 2022 for musical use. This work is the result of Container Ensemble’s artistic residency at the Museu de la Música, carried out between autumn 2023 and spring 2024. The pianola R.S. Howard that will be used in the concert is also part of the Museum’s collection.
