Mats Gustafsson, Barry Guy and Jordina Millà approach improvisation from a totally acoustic perspective: saxophone, double bass and piano, respectively. However, this does not imply that the musicians play the instruments following traditional conventions, but rather that they do so by rethinking the technique and the capabilities of the instrument.

This gives rise to a highly original language, full of new and unusual sonorities. This type of free improvisation, which some masters of the genre such as Richard Barrett often refer to as “composition in real time”, celebrates the strength of the collective rather than the individual: it is music that is constructed in a group, from scratch, with the assumption that both successes and mistakes will end up forming part of the message received by the audience.
