“No se lo digas a nadie” is a fresh and innovative offering that highlights the musical heritage of the composer Enrique Cofiner. Born in 1909 in Barcelona’s El Raval district and the son of a flamenco guitarist, Cofiner was a very versatile and multifaceted musician. While composing boleros, sambas, tangos and pasdobles, some of his greatest hits were performed by renowned orchestras and singers including Manolo Escobar. He also wrote classical music for piano and orchestra.
Composer and pianist Carles Marigó has arranged eleven songs in flamenco style, from the composer’s extensive catalogue, reclaiming this facet of the composer. The Barcelona singer Anna Colom, one of today’s most renowned emerging voices, has been entrusted with giving voice to these songs. Trained in flamenco singing at ESMUC, she has accompanied musicians such as Chicuelo and Rosalia in the group of singers and dancers who accompanied her on stage during the “El mal querer” tour.
The project and the band bring together exceptional musicians with a flair for flamenco, many of them trained at or are linked to ESMUC.
This heritage recovery project has been promoted by the Enrique Cofiner Foundation.
