Programme
Overflowing with creativity and productivity, the heterodox Niño de Elche brings us one of the freshest shows in contemporary flamenco. A key figure in this genre, he has performed and explored it from every possible angle.
His insatiable desire to seek out the primordial and essential state of flamenco has now led to him proclaiming himself “ex-flamenco” and to the creation of his latest project Cante a lo gitano, the final piece in a trilogy comprising Memorial de cante en mis bodas de plata con el flamenco (2021) and Flamenco. Mausoleo de celebración, amor y muerte (2022). This final instalment results from a revisiting of the repertoire of Manuel Torre, the distinguished early 20th century flamenco artist, which has been catapulted into the future with the unique and prodigious voice (and personality) of Niño de Elche.
