Joseph Kamaru, known by the pseudonym KMRU, is a sound artist born in Nairobi, but based in Berlin. His music comes from field recordings, and using sound and ambient noise, normally in the form of compositions, concerts and installations. KMRU suggests sound spaces that blend elements from different cultures and locations, from his native Kenya to German IDM music. KMRU develops and works with sounds from nature, elements of digital glitchand synthesis, to create a constantly changing musical form that cannot be easily categorised.
