Programme
The Tast d’Orquestra cycle gives you a fresh perspective on symphony orchestras. It is a unique experience that creates a dialogue between music and the performing arts and turns musical discovery into a more enriching and stimulating experience. With the Tast d’Orquestra you can enjoy a selection of key works from the history of music performed by the OBC in an abridged concert format and be amazed by the theatrical production, loosely inspired by the day’s programme, performed by the company Indi Gest before the concert.
Defined as a “one-act pantomime ballet”, Béla Bartók’s The Miraculous Mandarin blends the composer’s passion for folklore with the creation of new languages, producing a rich display of colour and rhythm. After its scandalous premiere in Cologne in 1926, the work was banned in Germany.
Today, however, it is considered one of Bartók’s most representative works, the fruit of his musical imagination. The work will be introduced by a dramatised presentation by the Indi Gest theatre company, highlighting the Hungarian composer’s visionary character.
