Program
Corpus, by Xavier Bobés, is an encounter between a sculpture, an object manipulator and a musician. A whispered scenic dialogue in which only 25 people can participate in each performance. The artist proposes an exploration of the movement of a sculptural object in relation to the human body, animals and plants. A poetic reflection on the practice of objectifying that seeks a way to interpret, transform and depict it.Corpus is also a journey between a man and his form, an impossible dialogue unravelling the hours of a person’s life, retracing his steps, becoming smaller and eventually disappearing again.
One step, a second step with the other foot. A tree, a rest and a bird. I hug the tree. I can hear a tune… Is it the bird? Is it the wind? Is it the tree?
My body is my home; this home that is who I am metamorphoses, deteriorates, becomes corrupted. It is sometimes impassable, sometimes susceptible to doubt, to time, to the elements.
Corpus explores the movement of a sculptural object in relation to the human body, animals and plants. The objectification of the bond that each person has with their own “object body”, revealing its poetic meaning and analysing its possibilities for interpretation, transformation, visual representation and movement.
A co-production by L’Auditori de Barcelona and Teatros del Canal in Madrid.
With the collaboration of L’Animal a l’Esquena and Azala.
